SafeGuard in Saudi Arabia: AFFF Firefighting Foam from AZEIDK

6% Aqueous Film Forming Foam 200 L UL Certified SafeGuard

SafeGuard is a firefighting foam brand made by Safeguard Fire Protections Pvt. Ltd. of New Delhi, India, and supplied in Saudi Arabia by AZEIDK. The SafeGuard range available from AZEIDK is the BIOSOLV C6 aqueous film-forming foam (AFFF) concentrate at 3% and 6%, in 20 L and 200 L packs, for hydrocarbon fuel fires in foam systems.

Key takeaways

  • SafeGuard is made by an Indian manufacturer and supplied by AZEIDK, with AFFF at 3% and 6% in 20 L and 200 L packs.
  • The concentrate is for non-polar hydrocarbon fuels such as diesel, gasoline and kerosene, and is not automatically suitable for alcohols or water-miscible solvents.
  • The 3% data sheet lists a UL 162 listing, EN 1568-3 approval and others; confirm the listing with the proportioner and discharge devices actually installed.
  • The concentrate uses C6 fluorosurfactants, which are per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), so it falls within the EU restrictions on PFAS in firefighting foams.
  • The ratio on the drum must match the system proportioner, so never swap a 3% concentrate for a 6% one without resetting the system.

Who makes SafeGuard?

Safeguard Fire Protections, based in New Delhi, makes firefighting and safety equipment. According to its website, its foam range covers AFFF, alcohol-resistant AFFF (AR-AFFF), protein, synthetic, medium- and high-expansion and fluorine-free concentrates, alongside extinguishers, hose reels, monitors, nozzles and sprinklers.

From this range AZEIDK supplies the AFFF concentrates within its supply scope, while the manufacturer remains the reference for specifications and approvals.

SafeGuard products available from AZEIDK

All four products use the same concentrate, SAFEGUARD BIOSOLV C6 AFFF, and differ in ratio and pack size. The table summarizes the manufacturer data sheets and the AZEIDK product pages:

ProductTypical useSpecification as published by the manufacturer
AFFF 3%, 20 LSystems with 3% proportioners; small and reserve stocks3 parts concentrate to 97 parts fresh or sea water; data sheet lists UL 162, EN 1568-3 and other approvals
AFFF 3%, 200 LBulk storage for bladder tanks and fixed systemsSame concentrate in a high-density polyethylene (HDPE) drum
AFFF 6%, 20 LSystems with 6% proportioners6 parts to 94 parts water; data sheet states UL listing, UL 162:2018 performance and International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) Level C
AFFF 6%, 200 LBulk storage for 6% systemsSame concentrate in a 200 L drum

A 3% concentrate needs half the storage volume of a 6% concentrate for the same amount of solution, but the choice follows the proportioner and the system listing first.

Where SafeGuard foam is used

The product pages list Class B fires in hydrocarbons such as crude oil, gasoline, diesel and kerosene, at sites such as fuel storage tanks, process areas, power stations, fuel stations, petrochemical plants and marine terminals. The concentrate works with bladder tanks, balanced pressure and in-line proportioners, and handline nozzles.

It is not for energized electrical fires or chemicals that react dangerously with water. Polar solvents such as alcohols and ketones need an alcohol-resistant concentrate, as our foam fire suppression systems guide explains. Complementary equipment from AZEIDK includes the foam bladder tank from Falcon Gold.

What C6 means: fluorine and PFAS rules

The manufacturer describes the concentrate as based on C6 fluorosurfactants and free of perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA) and perfluorooctane sulfonic acid (PFOS). Being free of those two substances does not make it PFAS free.

On 2 October 2025 the European Union adopted Commission Regulation (EU) 2025/1988, which restricts PFAS in firefighting foams at 1 mg/L or more for the sum of all PFAS. The general ban applies from 23 October 2030, with transition periods of 12 months to 10 years depending on the use. Guidance from the UK Fire Industry Association explains that C6 foams are restricted in the EU, most uses under this regulation and some, such as civil aviation and training, under an earlier restriction on perfluorohexanoic acid (PFHxA). On Saudi projects, the owner, the insurer and the authorities decide which concentrate is accepted.

What to check before approval

  1. Confirm the fuel: AFFF for hydrocarbons, alcohol-resistant concentrate for polar solvents.
  2. Match the ratio (3% or 6%) to the installed or designed proportioner.
  3. Check the listing: UL 162 is based on foam equipment being investigated with the specified concentrates, so confirm the current listing covers this concentrate with your proportioner and discharge devices.
  4. Compare the approvals in the specification or insurer requirements with the data sheet for the exact product.
  5. Do not mix with another concentrate in the tank until the manufacturer confirms compatibility.
  6. Store packs dry, ventilated and out of the sun; the product page gives a recommended range of 0 to 49°C.
  7. Extinguishing agents fall under the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization (SASO) technical regulation for fire control materials and equipment, so ask for the SABER conformity details, as our SABER and SALEEM news explains.
  8. Plan concentrate sample tests and an actual proportioning check at handover and during maintenance, as covered in our guide to NFPA 25, the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) standard for inspection, testing and maintenance.

FAQ

Is SafeGuard an AZEIDK brand?

No. SafeGuard is made by Safeguard Fire Protections Pvt. Ltd. in New Delhi, India, and AZEIDK supplies it in Saudi Arabia within its supply scope. The range at AZEIDK is BIOSOLV C6 AFFF at 3% and 6% in 20 L and 200 L packs, and its specifications and approvals come from the manufacturer’s data sheets.

Should I choose 3% or 6% concentrate?

The proportioner and the system listing decide, not price alone. A 3% concentrate needs half the storage volume for the same solution but requires a proportioner set to 3%. Never swap one for the other in an existing system without resetting the proportioning and checking the listing.

Is BIOSOLV C6 PFAS free?

No. The manufacturer states it is PFOA and PFOS free, but it is based on C6 fluorosurfactants, which are PFAS restricted in EU firefighting foams, with transition periods. In Saudi Arabia, the owner, insurer and authorities decide which concentrate is accepted on a project.

Can it be used on alcohol or solvent fires?

Not automatically. It is designed for non-polar hydrocarbons. Polar liquids such as alcohols and ketones mix with water and break down ordinary foam, so they need an alcohol-resistant concentrate listed for that hazard. The fire protection engineer confirms the fuel types before selecting the concentrate and ratio.

Can SafeGuard be mixed with another concentrate in the tank?

Not until the manufacturer confirms compatibility in writing. Mixing concentrates can change foam performance and take the system outside its listing. When changing supplier or type, the tank is drained and cleaned per the instructions, and the listing is checked for the new concentrate with the installed hardware.
