Preventive maintenance helps detect early signs of potential faults and improves the consistency of inspections and follow-up activities.
Preventive maintenance relies on scheduled inspections designed to identify potential signs of deterioration before they develop into faults that affect system performance.
Inspections are planned according to manufacturer instructions, Civil Defense requirements and the relevant NFPA standards, such as NFPA 72 for inspection and testing of fire alarm systems and NFPA 25 for inspection, testing and maintenance of water-based fire protection systems and fire pumps, to suit the system type and contract scope.
What is the difference between preventive and corrective maintenance?
Preventive maintenance is scheduled inspection to catch problems early; corrective maintenance responds to an existing fault. A contract can combine both; see corrective maintenance and technical support.
Are spare parts included?
This is set in the contract; some contracts cover labour and inspection only, others include defined spare parts.
Do you maintain systems installed by others?
Yes, after a site survey to establish the systems’ condition and the right maintenance scope.
– Prepare a schedule of periodic maintenance visits and inspections in accordance with the contractual scope.
– Inspect fire alarm control panels, detectors, and associated notification devices.
– Review fire suppression system components and fire pumps according to the system type.
– Conduct periodic functional tests and document the results.
– Provide reports detailing observations and recommended corrective actions.
– Maintain CCTV cameras and recorders, checking image quality and recording retention.
– Inspect intrusion alarm, access control, intercom and barrier systems.
