About the project
Waad Academy is a school on Qatadah bin Idris Street in the Al Sawari district of Jeddah, teaching students from KG1 to Grade 12. It offers two academic pathways, American (with AP programmes) and British, both integrated with the Saudi national curriculum. The academy has operated since 2015 and is a College Board centre for AP and SAT exams.
Why fire and life safety matter in a school
A school that runs from kindergarten to Grade 12 brings children of very different ages under one roof. Young pupils cannot evacuate on their own and depend on their teachers. The alarm must be heard and understood in every space, and escape routes must stay clear and short enough for a class to leave in order. Early detection gives staff the minutes they need to account for every child, and suppression keeps a fire in a laboratory, kitchen or storeroom from reaching the corridors. Drills only work if the systems behind them are reliable. Schools follow the Saudi Building Code (SBC 801) and Civil Defense requirements.
AZEIDK’s role
AZEIDK supplied, installed, tested and commissioned the academy’s fire protection, alarm and security systems in line with the project’s requirements.
