About the project
The Danube Foodstuff & Accessories Branch – Taif is a branch of Danube, a premium Saudi grocery chain. Danube and BinDawood are the two retail chains of BinDawood Holding, which has been listed on the Saudi Exchange (Tadawul) since 21 October 2020. Danube opened its 50th store in December 2021.
Why fire safety and maintenance matter in a supermarket
A supermarket stays open for long hours with a steady flow of shoppers, and its shelves hold a mixed fire load of packaged goods, plastics, paper, aerosols and cooking oils. Refrigeration runs around the clock, and stockrooms fill with cartons. In a building that never pauses, installing systems once is not enough: stock can block sprinkler heads, detector or panel faults can go unnoticed, and exits can be obstructed. Safety depends on regular maintenance that checks and records system readiness, in line with the Saudi Building Code (SBC 801) and Civil Defense requirements.
AZEIDK’s role
The Civil Defense safety certificate issued for this branch names AZEIDK as the maintenance contractor. AZEIDK’s scope included:
- Safety system maintenance
- Civil Defense requirements
- Fire and safety system readiness support
- Safety system follow-up for the project
- Civil Defense safety document
