The TYCO RFII-C, SIN TY3582, is a quick-response concealed pendent fire sprinkler specifically designed for long, narrow commercial light-hazard spaces such as corridors and hallways.
It features the Royal Flush II concealed design, with the sprinkler installed above the ceiling and covered by a flat cover plate. This provides a clean architectural appearance while keeping the sprinkler concealed during normal conditions.
The sprinkler is intended for automatic sprinkler systems designed in accordance with NFPA 13 and provides extended corridor coverage up to 28 ft × 10 ft, or approximately 8.5 m × 3.1 m, subject to its applicable listing and design criteria.
Key Features:
• Special-application concealed corridor sprinkler.
• Model RFII-C.
• Sprinkler Identification Number: TY3582.
• Concealed pendent installation.
• Royal Flush II design.
• Quick-response operation.
• Intended for light-hazard applications.
• Nominal K-factor of 5.6.
• Flat cover plate conceals the sprinkler above the ceiling.
• Maintains a clean architectural ceiling appearance.
• Maximum listed coverage up to 28 ft × 10 ft.
• Intended for automatic sprinkler systems designed to NFPA 13.
• UL Listed as shown in the supplied product flyer.
• Can reduce the number of sprinklers required compared with selected standard-coverage arrangements.
• Cover plates are available in multiple colors and finishes.
• Custom factory-painted cover-plate finishes may be available.
• Suitable for corridors requiring coordination between fire protection and interior design.
Operation:
During normal conditions, the sprinkler assembly is concealed above the ceiling by the cover plate.
When exposed to heat from a fire:
• The thermal attachment points of the cover plate respond first.
• The cover plate releases and falls away.
• The sprinkler deflector becomes exposed and moves into its operating position.
• Heat continues to affect the sprinkler thermal element.
• The glass bulb breaks when its rated temperature is reached.
• The sealing assembly releases.
• Water begins to discharge.
• The deflector distributes water across the designed corridor coverage area.
Listed Flow Criteria:
28 ft × 8 ft Coverage:
• Approximate metric area: 8.5 m × 2.4 m.
• Flow rate: 23 GPM.
• Metric flow rate: approximately 87.1 LPM.
• Required pressure: 16.9 PSI.
• Metric pressure: approximately 1.2 bar.
28 ft × 10 ft Coverage:
• Approximate metric area: 8.5 m × 3.1 m.
• Flow rate: 28 GPM.
• Metric flow rate: approximately 106 LPM.
• Required pressure: 25 PSI.
• Metric pressure: approximately 1.7 bar.
For coverage dimensions below or between the listed areas, the minimum flow required for the next-highest listed coverage area must be used.
Discharge Coefficient:
• K-factor: 5.6 GPM/psi½.
• Metric K-factor: approximately 80.6 LPM/bar½.
Connection:
• 1/2-inch NPT, as shown in the product illustration.
Concealed Design:
The flat cover plate conceals the sprinkler body and provides a coordinated finished-ceiling appearance.
Cover plates are available in various colors and finishes, including selected factory-painted options.
Only the listed cover plate designed for the RFII-C series should be used. The sprinkler or cover plate must not be field painted, coated or modified.
Applications:
• Hotel corridors.
• Hospital hallways.
• Office buildings.
• Shopping malls.
• Restaurants and architecturally sensitive areas.
• Educational facilities.
• Airport corridors.
• Long and narrow commercial spaces.
• Light-hazard applications.
• Projects requiring concealed sprinklers.
• Finished ceilings requiring a coordinated architectural appearance.
Standards and Approvals Shown:
• UL Listed.
• Intended for automatic sprinkler systems designed in accordance with NFPA 13.
Design and Installation Notes:
The final sprinkler quantity, spacing, flow and pressure must be determined through approved hydraulic calculations, the applicable listing criteria, NFPA 13 requirements and project specifications.
The cover plate must be correctly positioned relative to the finished ceiling in accordance with the installation dimensions.
Do not field paint or modify the sprinkler or cover plate.
Avoid installations where pressure differences or airflow through the ceiling opening could delay cover-plate release or sprinkler operation.
