Product Overview

Coming soon to AZEIDK Saudi Arabia.

SAFEGUARD BIOSOLV C6 AFFF-1% in a 200-liter HDPE drum is an aqueous film-forming foam concentrate for extinguishing and securing flammable hydrocarbon and select oxygenated fuel fires. It is formulated with hydrocarbon surfactants, fluorocarbon surfactants, solvents, preservatives and buffers, and helps prevent re-ignition after extinguishment.

The concentrate is proportioned at 1%: 1 part foam concentrate to 99 parts water.

Key features:

• Forms a thin aqueous film across the fuel surface, separating the fuel from oxygen.
• Fast knockdown, burn-back resistance and post-fire security.
• For flammable hydrocarbon fuel fires at 1%.
• Can be used with fresh, brackish and sea water.
• Compatible with dry chemical powder extinguishing agents.
• UL listed (UL file EX26577) and LR approved.
• Conforms to US-MIL, ICAO, FM, DEF STAN and EN, as stated in the data sheet.

Typical properties:

• Appearance: amber liquid.
• pH: 6.5 to 8.5.
• Expansion: greater than 8.0.
• 25% drainage time: greater than 90 seconds.
• Viscosity: less than 20 cps.
• Spreading coefficient: greater than 3.0.
• Fire performance: meets US specification.

Proportioning equipment:

• Balanced and in-line balanced pressure pump proportioners.
• Balanced pressure bladder tanks and ratio flow controllers.
• Around-the-pump proportioners.
• Fixed or portable in-line venturi proportioners.
• Hand-line nozzles with fixed eductors or pick-up tubes.

Typical applications:

• Fuel storage tanks.
• Process areas.
• Power stations.
• Marine terminals.
• Offshore platforms.
• Areas where hydrocarbon fuels and chemicals are stored, processed or transported.

Storage and handling:

• Store in a dry, well-ventilated place, out of direct sunlight.
• Stack HDPE containers preferably in a single layer, and no more than two layers.
• Recommended storage temperature: −5°C to 49°C. Container label: min. 20°F (−6.7°C), max. 120°F (49°C).
• For bulk tanks, keep the tank full with 5–10% space for thermal expansion; inlet at the base, outlet above the base.
• Recommended tank materials: stainless steel 304/316 and cross-linked HDPE. Uncoated mild steel is not recommended.

Environmental information:

• Biodegradable and low in toxicity, as stated in the data sheet.
• Can be treated in sewage treatment plants in consultation with the relevant local authority.

Packaging:

• 200 liters, HDPE drum.
• The 1% concentrate is also supplied in 20, 30 and 200 liter containers.

AFFF-1% must not be used undiluted. Confirm compatibility with the fuel, system design and proportioning equipment before use, and refer to the attached technical data sheet.
