The FG FGS-604 conventional photoelectric smoke detector is designed for use within conventional fire alarm systems in residential and commercial applications.
It uses a pair of infrared diodes inside a specially designed sensing chamber. The chamber helps shield the detector from external light while allowing smoke to enter.
Under normal conditions, the receiving diode detects only a very weak infrared signal. When smoke enters the chamber, smoke particles reflect the infrared light and increase the received signal. When the smoke reaches the operating density, the detector generates an alarm signal and the red status LED illuminates.
The detector uses a pulsed emitting circuit to help reduce interference and lower power consumption. According to the catalogue, it is available in both 2-wire and 4-wire versions.
