It is organizationally linked to the President of the Council of Ministers, its board is chaired by the Minister of Interior, and it issues regulations and instructions for the facilities it supervises, including its Safety and Fire Protection (SAF) directives.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-817feac elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"817feac\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>The Safety and Fire Protection directives<\/h2>\n<p>The general document SAF-01 (version 2.0, dated 2 April 2017) sets the general requirements for companies and organizations under HCIS supervision and refers to specialist directives, including:<\/p>\n<div class=\"az-table-wrap\"><table>\n<thead><tr><th>Directive<\/th><th>Subject<\/th><\/tr><\/thead>\n<tbody>\n<tr><td>SAF-03<\/td><td>Buildings for industrial facilities<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td>SAF-04<\/td><td>Fire protection systems and equipment<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td>SAF-06<\/td><td>Plant layout, spacing and access<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td>SAF-08<\/td><td>Storage tanks and vessels<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td>SAF-09<\/td><td>Fireproofing in plants<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td>SAF-11<\/td><td>Emergency shutdown, isolation and depressuring<\/td><\/tr>\n<tr><td>SAF-20<\/td><td>Pre-incident planning and management of emergencies<\/td><\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table><\/div>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-973c89c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"973c89c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2>What HCIS requires on fire protection projects<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Selecting a fire protection consultant and contractor approved by HCIS.<\/li>\n<li>HCIS review of the consultant&#8217;s front-end engineering package, then of the contractor&#8217;s installation package.<\/li>\n<li>Submission of installation drawings, calculations and cause and effect diagrams for detection and alarm systems.<\/li>\n<li>Using the latest editions of referenced standards, such as NFPA standards, at the design stage.<\/li>\n<li>Defined steps for inspection, testing, maintenance and commissioning.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Saudipedia lists 13 sectors under HCIS supervision, including petroleum, electricity, petrochemicals, water, gas, mining, ports, railways, civil explosives, chemical industries and military industries.
